Bella is my hero. I have only had Bella, my Pomeranian, since November 27, 2021. I suffer from physical and psychiatric disabilities. I had been looking for my furever friend for almost four years; then Bella came into my life. Bella was previously owned by an elderly lady. She wasn’t very active and just wanted to lie around all day. I was able to train her to walk on a leash so we could go on short walks. I walk with a cane and having her walk with me helps with my balance; she walks at my speed and stays by my side.
Bella also helps me with my anxiety, depression and PTSD. I was stricken, overnight, with five different internal diseases in 2017 at the age of 57. I was extremely ill and in and out of the hospital over eight times between December of 2017 and May of 2018. In May of 2018 I was moved to an Assisted Living Facility. In November of 2019 I was able to move into my own apartment. In September of 2020 the apartment complex I lived in burnt to the ground as a result of a wildfire. I was homeless until November of 2020 when I moved into my current apartment.
I got Bella on November 27, 2021. On November 29, 2021 I fell in my kitchen, hit the refrigerator and busted my head open. I live alone except for Bella. I waited 20 minutes for help to come. Bella stayed by my side; licking my face so, I believe, I wouldn’t lose consciousness. Almost four months and 11 staples later, my head injury is healing.
I believe Bella saved my life. SHE IS MY AMERICAN HERO!
