I teamed up with K9 Arlo in 2019 at a local Sheriffs Office. K9 Arlos first year was very successful and captured 19 out of 23 suspects which was one of the states highest ratio. In January of 2021 after a pursuit had stopped, K9 Arlo was sent out to detain the suspect who was outside of his car. While K9 Arlo was enroute to detain the suspect, the suspect pulled a gun (unknowned that he was armed). There was gunfight between officer and suspect. During the gunfight K9 Arlo had gotten to the suspect and bit him but K9 Arlo had received two gunshots. One gunshot was life threatening and ended up shattering his c-3 and c-4 in his spine. He was rushed to a local vet and then a larger vet 6 hrs away. His surgery lasted about 8 hrs and was as successful as they wanted it. It took about 2 weeks and he was walking on his own. Since then he works with multiple non-profits and spread awareness on mental health. He was medically retired and given the Purple Heart and AKC award. He continues to give to the community as a retired police dog and loves meeting new people at events.
